Staff and Training

Before being considered for a position working for Guardian Angel Daycare and the Diocese of Salt Lake, all candidates are required to pass a background check, complete Safe Environment Training, have appropriate immunizations, a yearly Flu Shot, be CPR and First Aid certified, as well as having completed the State Food Handling course. All staff possess differing levels of training, education, and administrative skills. Each year employees are required to complete 20 hours of continuing education in early child development.

  • Part-Time Cleaning: The Skaggs Catholic Center is looking to fill two part time cleaning positions. The jobs are Monday-Friday from 6:00-9:45. The pay range is from $8.00 to $9.00. These positions will start as soon as possible.

  • Saint John the Baptist Elementary (Draper, Utah), a Catholic, Pre-Kindergarten – 5th Grade school (approximately 575 students) is currently seeking candidates for Assistant Principal for the 2018-2019 School Year. 

    Saint John the Baptist Elementary opened in 1999 under the auspices of the Diocese of Salt Lake City as an entity of the Skaggs Catholic Center.  In addition to Saint John the Baptist Elementary, the campus is comprised of Saint John the Baptist Parish, Guardian Angel Daycare, Saint John the Baptist Middle School and Juan Diego Catholic High School.

    As stated in the Administrative Handbook of the Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Salt Lake City, the assistant principal is called “to support and assist the principal in every way possible in the school, to assume the leadership in the absence of the principal or when delegated by him/her, and when desired by the principal, to fulfill additional duties as required.” (Policy 2110) 
    Minimum Requirements:

    • Active, practicing Catholic
    • Understanding of Catholic school philosophy
    • Commitment to modeling the values of Catholic educational leadership
    • Master’s Degree in a field of Education (Administration preferred)
    • Five years successful teaching and/or administration

    • Experience in instructional leadership, curriculum development, teacher supervision, and effective instruction
    • Collaborative leadership style with strong interpersonal and team-building skills
    • Oral and written communication and motivational skills
    • Intellectual, organizational and managerial skills

    • Knowledge and application of instructional technology
    • Ability to effectively represent Saint John the Baptist Elementary and the Church

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Juan Diego Catholic High School is an EO/EA/AA employer, and conducts background checks on all final candidates. 

Preferred candidates will have Masters degree in their subject area, have the ability to teach across multiple subject disciplines, hold a current Utah State Teaching License, have at least two years high school teaching experience, and have expertise with Google Apps for Education, the PowerSchool student information system and the Moodle online course management system.
